Many California utility companies currently offer rebates for Energy Star appliances and incentives for energy-efficient measures, such as attic and wall insulation. In addition, the Federal Government will soon announce a direct rebate program, Homestar, to reward whole-house performance retrofits. Homestar will provide direct incentives to homeowners to defray 50% of the cost of an energy-efficient retrofit/remodel up to $8,000.00. Some utilities plan to offer similar programs, on a smaller scale, to run concurrently with the Federal program.
Let California Home Performance help you navigate your way through the myriad of financial incentives and other options, such as the CaliforniaFIRST program, a property assessed clean energy (PACE) finance program. PACE programs allow property owners within participating regions to finance the installation of energy improvements on their home or business and pay the amount back as a line item on their property tax bill. Eligible projects include but are not limited to:
- Air Sealing
- Wall and Attic/Roof Insulation
- Energy-Efficient Windows
- Tankless Water Heaters
- Photovoltaics (Solar Electricity)
- Low-Flow Toilets
